A casting arrangement (30) for the single crystal casting of a component in which a common feed (34) for molten metal is provided with a filtration arrangement (36) that incorporates an annular filter (44). Outlets (48) in a housing surrounding the filter (44) direct the filtered molten metal on to a seed crystal (58) and into a spiral grain selector (60).
