[Class 140] An unwoven fabric simulating in appearance a woven fabric comprises warp filaments 19 and pairs of weft filaments 20, 21 made of synthetic organic plastic material formed about the warps by moulding in situ, the weft filaments of each pair being contiguous and welded together between each adjacent warp. The warps and wefts may be of the same material and may be welded together at their crossing points, or the warps may be twisted filaments of natural textile fibres and may be adhesively connected to the wefts. The wefts may be provided at least intermediate the crossing points with the warps with one or more, preferably helical grooves 5 extending at an acute angle to the filament and extending around at least one third of the circumference of the filaments.
