Method for making mefloquine

Producing mefloquine by diastereo-selective hydrogenation of dehydromefloquine in an inert solvent and using noble metal catalysts, comprises hydrogenating dehydromefloquine in an acid medium and in the presence of at least one catalytically active metal from group VIII and bromide ion. ACTIVITY : Antimalarial. MECHANISM OF ACTION : None given.
