<p>The device for supporting a tapered post 4 comprises a tubular body portion 1 with an open end 3, where the body portion is for installing in the ground 2, a collar portion 5, a positioning plate 11 seated in the collar portion with an opening 12 having a smaller diameter than the tubular body portion, a sealing ring 6 and a retention ring 7. The retention ring has a chamfered profile 10 that acts against the sealing ring such that the chamfer forces the sealing ring towards the post when it is mounted in the body portion to retain the post in tight engagement. A centring ring may be positioned in the body portion to locate the post. The retention ring may be a single piece or in two or more sections and is secured by bolts or screws. The sealing ring may be a deformable plastic material.</p> |
