Safety connector assembly

A connector assembly includes first (236) and second (238) mating connectors that can be joined to make a fluid connection. The first connector has a coupling portion which includes a key (252) and the second connector has a mating cavity (290) for capturing the key of the 1st connector when first and second connector are mated in sealing relation. The connectors are constructed to discriminate improper connectors so that no fluid tight connection can be formed with improper connectors. The connector assembly can be used with a system for compression therapy to prevent deep vein thrombosis.
