The invention relates to a method for forming a roll (2) of tape, wherein an amount to be wound is predetermined and is wound into a roll (2), wherein the predetermined amount is defined by square meters and to a method of distributing tape, wherein tape is wound into rolls (2) defined by a predetermined number of square meters, such that each roll (2) comprises the same amount of tape. Furthermore a series of rolls (2) of similar or identical tape is disclosed, all comprising the same amount of tape but some having different widths.
