APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DETECTING SIGNAL IN COGNITIVE RADIO SYSTEM

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for detecting a signal in a cognitive radio system are provided to estimate a pilot frequency by dividing a dwell into plural intervals and using the difference between the estimated pilot frequencies in order to detect an ATSC signal. CONSTITUTION: A method for detecting a signal in a cognitive radio system comprises the steps of: dividing a reception signal vector into M number of intervals; dividing the reception signal of the M number of reception signals into Nd number of intervals in consideration of an FFT(Fast Fourier Transform) size; calculating W number of covariance vectors for each of M×Nd number of reception signals; calculating W number of average covariance vector values from Nd number of covariance vectors and detecting the maximal covariance vector among the W number of average covariance vector values to estimate M number of pilot frequencies; and detecting a signal by using the difference between pilot frequencies.
