PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an image generating apparatus and a program thereof for easily obtaining image data of the necessary part from the frames of a motion image. SOLUTION: When a video file is selected (S1) and a motion print of an extracted frame is selected (Y in S4), the first frame image of the selected video file is displayed (S5). Subsequently, when frames of high-light scenes are selected (S6 to S8) and determined (Y in S6) by user's manipulation, a trimming frame 20 is displayed in overlap on the frame images determined as the high-light scenes (S9). A user conducts adjustment with a cross key to accommodate the image to be extracted into a trimming frame 20 (S10 to S14). When it is determined that the trimming range is determined (Y in S14), the image in the trimming frame 20 is extracted from the frames (S15) and the extracted image is recorded (S16).
