<p>The present invention relates to a portable battery powered lamp stand (1), for example a table lamp or a floor standing lamp. The portable battery powered lamp stand (1), comprises a lamp base (6) for resting on a supporting surface, a lamp (24) and a lamp shade (12) for diffusing light from the lamp, and a rechargeable battery power supply (26) including a battery for supplying electrical power to light the lamp (24). The lamp (24) and lamp shade (12) are both supported above the base (6). The lamp stand (1) comprises additionally at least one mount (14) supported above the base (6), the battery (26) being held within the hollow volume of the lamp shade (12) and the lamp shade being supported by said at least one mount.</p> |
