The cylinder (10) has a seal (36) cooperating with an external peripheral surface of a piston (18) for sealing a pressure chamber (32). The seal divides a cylinder sleeve into two cylinder sleeve sections (16a, 16b), where one of the sections is formed at a side of the chamber and the other section is arranged outside of the chamber. The peripheral surface has a sealing surface (20a) cooperating with the seal and a guiding section (20c) cooperating with the sleeve section arranged outside of the chamber, where the guide section radially projects over the sealing surface.
