The present invention relates to a powder metallurgical composition comprising an iron or iron-based metal powder, a lubricant and/or a binder, and carbon black, wherein the amount of carbon black is between 0.001 and 0.2% by weight, and the carbon black has a specific surface area above 100 m2/g. The invention also relates to a method of increasing apparent density of a powder metallurgical composition comprising an iron or iron-based metal powder, a binder, carbon black, and optionally a lubricant, the method comprising adding an amount of carbon black to said powder metallurgical composition, wherein the amount of carbon black is between 0.001 and 0.2% by weight and the carbon black has a specific surface area above 100 m2/g.
