PERPENDICULAR MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

PURPOSE: A perpendicular magnetic recording medium is provided to ensure enough crystal growth in a thin intermediate layer and restrict the dispersion of an applied recording field. CONSTITUTION: A perpendicular magnetic recording medium(100) comprises a substrate(110), a soft magnetic base layer(130), an intermediate layer(150), and a record layer(170). The soft magnetic base layer comprises a plurality of soft magnetic layers formed on the top of the substrate. The intermediate layer is formed on the soft magnetic base layer and controls the crystalline of the record layer. The record layer is formed on the intermediate layer. The highest one of the soft magnetic layers closest to the intermediate layer has the same crystalline as the intermediate layer and induces the crystalline of the record layer.
