PURPOSE: A light emitting device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to improve optical extraction efficiency by selecting a material after considering the difference of a refractive ratio between a light emitting structure and a background material. CONSTITUTION: A light emitting structure(110) includes a first conductive semiconductor layer, an active layer, and a second conductive semiconductor layer. An insulating layer(130) is formed in the outside of the light emitting structure. A first electrode is formed on the light emitting structure into a wing shape or a grid form. A light extrication layer(150) is formed on the first electrode.
