PURPOSE: A thermosetting resin composition, a thermosetting overcoat layer, and a liquid crystal display are provided to secure the printability about a polyimide system resin composition for forming an alignment layer, and to improve the re-coatability of the composition. CONSTITUTION: A thermosetting resin composition contains unsaturated carboxylic acid or unsaturated carboxylic acid anhydride, an epoxy group-containing unsaturated compound, and an olefin based unsaturated compound copolymer. The equilibrium contact angle with N-methylpyrolidone when manufacturing a hardened layer of the composition, is less than 40 degrees.
