FIELD: construction. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to water-repellent agent on the basis of long-chain olefins produced by hydroxyl acetoxylation of industrial fractions of alpha-olefins C16-18 or C20-26 by heating of specified fraction of olefins and hydrogen oxide taken in mole ratio of 1:(1.8-2), with surplus of acetic acid for an hour with further separation of upper oil product-containing layer, its washing by alkalescent aqueous solution, water and drying. ^ EFFECT: present water-repellent agent expands arsenal of available water-repellent agents and solves problem of recycling of industrial -olefins produced in process of oil processing into useful products. ^ 2 cl, 3 tbl
