PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a core for forming a cooling water passage and a cylinder head suitable for preventing reduction in strength, and to provide methods for manufacturing them. SOLUTION: The core for forming a cooling water passage is provided which comprises: a lower die 22 forming the lower side surface of the cooling water passage 3; an upper die 23 forming the upper side surface of the cooling water passage; and a horizontal die 21 forming the surface of the cooling water passage facing an exhaust port 2, and which is used for forming the cooling water passage upon manufacturing of a cylinder head 1 by casting, the cylinder head and the methods for manufacturing the core and the cylinder head are also provided. In each of the methods for manufacturing the core and the cylinder head, the edge part on the central side of the cylinder head in the core part facing the upper face of the exhaust port is formed by three dies of: a hollow surface R shape 25 at the distal end obtained by raising a part of the lower die forming the lower side surface of the cooling water passage; the horizontal die forming the surface of the cooling water passage facing the exhaust port continuously to either of the hollow surface at the distal end of the lower die; and the upper die forming the upper side surface of the cooling water passage continuously to the other of the hollow surface at the distal end of the lower die.
