摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent burn-in of a display section in an electrophoretic display. <P>SOLUTION: The electrophoretic display (1) has: the display section (3) which is configured with a plurality of pixels (20) where electrophoretic elements (23) including electrophoretic particles are provided between pixels electrodes (21) and common electrodes (22) which face each other; and a driving section that applies a drive voltage between the pixel electrodes and the common electrodes based on image data to display an image corresponding to the image data in the display section. The driving section has a first period for applying the drive voltage to make a second region (a) and a third region (c) in first gradation between the pixel electrodes and the common electrodes of the pixels respectively corresponding to the third region and the second region, the third region being a region adjacent to the second region and surrounding the second region, the second region being a region which is in second gradation while a first image is displayed, in a first region (b) which is a region in the first gradation while the first image is displayed, during a rewriting period for rewriting an image to be displayed at the display section from the first image to a second image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p>
