<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an agglomerate containing a carbonaceous material, which rapidly and sufficiently softens the powdery carbonaceous material and uniformly mixes the carbonaceous material with a raw material containing powdery iron by a simple and reliable means, and can further improve the productivity without increasing the costs of facilities while securing the strength. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the agglomerate D containing the carbonaceous material by mixing the powdery carbonaceous material A having softening and melting properties and a heated raw material B containing powdery iron while passing an oxygen-containing gas G therein to obtain a heated mixture C and hot-forming the mixture includes: supplying only the raw material B containing powdery iron, which has been heated to 500°C or higher, to a mixing means 3, when starting the operation; subsequently supplying the powdery carbonaceous material A little by little to the mixing means 3; starting the supply of the oxygen-containing gas G after the temperature of the heated mixture C has reached 300°C or higher; and bringing the operation condition to a target operation condition of a steady state by adjusting the rate of supply and the like of the powdery carbonaceous material A, the raw material B containing powdery iron and the oxygen-containing gas G while keeping the temperature of the heated mixture C at 300°C or higher by continuing the catalytic combustion.
