PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve not only productivity of an optical component including an optical element and an optical element holding member but also the strength, durability, dimensional accuracy, and shape stability of the optical element holding member holding the optical element. SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing an optical component including an optical element 10 and an optical element holding member for holding an outer peripheral part of the optical element 10 includes: a process of disposing the optical element 10 on the inside of a mold for forming the optical element holding member, bringing an incidence-side protection member 8 protecting an incidence-side optical surface 10a of the optical element 10 into contact with the incidence-side optical surface 10a, and abutting an emission-side protection member 9 for protecting an emission-side optical surface 10b of the optical element 10, on the emission-side optical surface 10b; and a process of filling the mold with molten metal of a metal material to integrally injection-mold the optical element holding member comprising an amorphous alloy and the optical element 10.
