<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a setting device for on-vehicle equipment registering more settings of the on-vehicle equipment, and to provide a setting program for the on-vehicle equipment and a method. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This invention relates to the setting device for the on-vehicle equipment associating a characteristic amount of a face with the setting of the on-vehicle equipment and storing it in a storage section in an automobile with a control device controlling the on-vehicle equipment and a camera. It includes an image obtaining section obtaining an image picked up by the camera, a face detecting section detecting the face in the image obtained by the image obtaining section, a calculating section calculating the characteristic amount of the face detected by the face detecting section as an authenticated characteristic amount, an authenticating section performing authentication based on the stored characteristic amount which is the stored characteristic amount of the face associated with the setting of the on-vehicle equipment relative to the authenticated characteristic amount calculated by the calculating section, a notifying section notifying the setting of the on-vehicle equipment associated with the stored characteristic amount to the control device when the authenticated characteristic amount is authenticated by the authenticating section, and an entering section associating the authenticated characteristic amount with the setting of the on-vehicle equipment and storing it in the storage section when the authenticated characteristic amount is not authenticated by the authenticating section.
