<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact differential gear device. <P>SOLUTION: This differential gear device 100 includes: a pinion gear 112; a side gear 114, to which a drive shaft 143 is connected; and a side gear 115, to which a drive shaft 142 is connected. The side gear 114 includes an insert part 160, into which the drive shaft 143 is to be inserted. The side gear 115 includes an insert part 180, to which the drive shaft 142 is to be inserted.
