<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively remove block noise or mosquito noise to improve image quality of a digital-processed image. <P>SOLUTION: The processed image is partitioned into a plurality of closed areasβ(x, y) (S1). An "indexσ<SB>m</SB>" showing spread of data with an arithmetic mean value of a luminance as a center is calculated in each closed area (S2). Based on the "indexσ<SB>m</SB>", a "separation coefficientμ<SB>0</SB>of a reference of each pixel" inside the closed area and a "separation intensityχof each pixel" inside the closed area are determined, and a "separation coefficientμof each pixel" inside the closed area is calculated based thereon. Similarly, separation coefficientsμare also calculated to all pixels of another area (S3). Through the variation method with the "separation coefficientμof each pixel" applied thereto, the processed image is separated into a framework component (a noise reduction image) comprising a uniform luminance area and a contour, a vibration component (noise) corresponding to a texture or noise, and a difference component (S4). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
