PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply producing fine titanium oxide powders with high purity without refining treatment accompanying to the purity falling of an obtained cake (filtered substance) and controlling the additional amount of a pH adjusting agent when the titanium oxide powders are filtered from a dispersion liquid where crude titanium oxide powders produced by a liquid phase method are dispersed in water. SOLUTION: The method for producing the titanium oxide powders is characterized in that the titanium oxide powders in a slurry obtained after the dispersion liquid where the crude titanium oxide powders produced by the liquid phase method are dispersed in water are contacted with carbonic acid are separated.
