PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a ply member which can make the thickness and modulus of the ply member uniform without impeding productivity, a strip-shaped ply which can be used in the method, and a pneumatic tire having the ply member made of the strip-shaped ply. SOLUTION: In the method for producing the ply member including a cutting process in which a lengthy belt-shaped ply obtained by coating a plurality of cords arranged in parallel with rubber is cut in a prescribed length to obtain the strip-shaped ply 11 and a joining process in which the strip-shaped plies 11 are arranged in the width direction W and joined together in turn, the strip-shaped ply 11 includes the body 11A positioned on the middle side of the width direction W and a joining part 11B which is thinner than the body 11A, is positioned on both sides, and includes a cord structure having a modulus lower than that of the cord structure of the body 11A.
