<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate to discriminate an object by improving the visibility of the object immediately after starting photographing even in the case of obtaining a color photographed video image so as not to make illuminated light too bright for the object at a dark place, regarding an imaging apparatus and a video doorphone system. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus 9 includes an infrared light source portion 9a for photographing for illuminating the object, a visible light source portion 9b for photographing for illuminating the object, an imaging portion 9c for photographing the object, and a light emission control portion 9e for controlling light emission of the infrared light source portion 9a for photographing and the visible light source portion 9b for photographing, wherein the light emission control portion 9e starts to illuminate infrared light when imaging portion 9c starts photographing, and increases the light quantity of the visible light more gently than infrared light with the elapse of time after starting the light emission.
