PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gravure coater which prevents a deviation of a coating liquid scraped up by a gravure roll, and can carry out a uniform coating of the coating liquid on a flexible base material. SOLUTION: The gravure coater includes the rotating gravure roll 21, a manifold block 22 allowing the coating liquid to adhere to the gravure roll 21 while overflowing from an opening edge for overflow of the coating liquid in a liquid receiver 221 pooling the coating liquid in which the lower outer peripheral surface of the gravure roll 21 is dipped, and a doctor blade 23 scraping the excess part of the coating liquid adhering to the gravure roll 21. A gap L1 between a first opening edge 222 for overflow of the gravure roll 21 and the gravure roll 21 opposed to the first opening edge 222 for overflow is set to be in a range of 0.1-5 mm.
