摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which prevents deterioration of display quality. SOLUTION: A first substrate 101 has a first electrode PE, a second electrode CE arranged on the first electrode PE via an insulating layer, and a third electrode COM1 arranged in parallel with the second electrode CE. The first and second substrates 101 and 102 are arranged so as to contact a liquid crystal layer LQ, and have a pair of oriented films AF1 and AF2 which are subjected to rubbing processing to specify an initial orientation direction of liquid crystal molecules LQA included in the liquid crystal layer LQ. The first electrode PE has a slit SL for generating an electric field in a direction which makes an acute angle in a first direction with respect to the initial orientation direction of the liquid crystal molecules LQA between the first and second electrodes PE and CE in an area facing the second electrode CE, and a convex part PEA which generates an electric field in a direction which inclines at an acute angle in a second direction with respect to the initial orientation direction of the liquid crystal molecules LQA between the first electrode PE and the third electrode COM1.
