<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for cleaning containers capable of automatically cleaning a container without using a cargo-handling vehicle. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for cleaning containers is constituted of a self-propelling means 28b for self-propelling a machine frame base 12 with traveling wheels 16a, 16b attached thereto and a steering means for steering the self-propelling means, which means are disposed on the machine frame base 12, a cleaning brush 18 that rotates on a rotation shaft 20 extending in the horizontal direction relative to the machine frame base 12 and is supported by an elevating/lowering driving means in a manner reciprocally movable in the vertical direction along a guiding means, a tank 44 for storing a cleaning liquid disposed on the machine frame base 12, and a plurality of cleaning-liquid supply means 46, 48, 62, 64, each disposed on the machine fame base 12, for supplying the cleaning liquid in the tank 44 to the areas of a transportation container 66 to be cleaned by the cleaning brush 18.
