<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display, capable of appropriately preventing planarization of the luminance which is unintended, when luminance expansion is performed. <P>SOLUTION: A projector 100 includes a feature information creating section 120 for creating feature information for indicating a plurality of kinds of features regarding the brightness of an image; and a luminance expanding section 150 for performing luminance expansion according to the adjustment value. The luminance expanding section 150 includes an expansion coefficient creating section 152 for creating an expansion coefficient, based on at least a part of the feature information; a contrast value creating section 153 for creating a contrast value, in an objective area which is composed of a plurality of pixels contained in the image; a correction value creating section 154 for creating a correction value, based on at least a part of the feature information, the contrast value and the image signal; an adjustment value creating section 155 for creating the adjustment value, based on the expansion coefficient and the correction value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
