PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for highly precisely generating a sensitivity level of insufficient color components. SOLUTION: In assuming a quadrangular pyramid A4 as a first geometric figure in which an existing sensitivity level value G0 for a pixel of interest, existing sensitivity level values G1-G4 for a plurality of first reference images are apices, and a geometric figure as a second geometric figure having a certain color component other than an existing color component of the pixel of interest as an existing color component and having an apex including an existing sensitivity level value for a plurality of second reference pixel positioned near to the pixel of interest, an operating means of a pixel interpolation processing section calculates a sensitivity level value of an insufficient color component in the pixel of interest so that the second geometric figure may be a shape analogous to the first geometric figure, and uses the same figure as the geometric figure even if the existing color component of the pixel of interest is either an R component, a G component or a B component.
