PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable device for photographing a radiation image efficiently photographing a radiation image and reducing a transmission time of image data, and a system for photographing a radiation image.

SOLUTION: The portable device 1 for photographing a radiation image includes: a current detection means 24 to detect a current flowing to a bias line on a region basis by forming a detection part P with a plurality of regions A, B; and a reading circuit 17 for reading accumulated charge generated in the respective radiation detection elements 7 to convert the charge to an electric signal on a region basis. A control means 22 detects, on a region basis, start of emission of the radiation based on increase of a current amount of the current flowing to the bias line detected by the current detection means 24, and executes distinct processes in processing of a region where the emission of the radiation is detected and that of a region where the emission of the radiation is not detected.
