摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a particulate matter detector small in size, reduced in measuring error and manufactured at a low price. SOLUTION: The particulate matter detector 100 includes a first electrode 10 having a conductive part 12 and the dielectric 14 covering the conductive part 12 and a second electrode 20 consisting of a metal arranged in opposed relation to the first electrode 10 so as to leave an interval of 0.3-3.0 mm and is constituted so as not only to make the first and second electrodes 10 and 20 electrically attract the charged particulate matter, which is contained in the fluid passing across the first and second electrodes 10 and 20, or the particulate matter, which is contained in the fluid charged by the discharge produced by applying voltage across the first and second electrodes 10 and 20, but also to measure a change in the electrical characteristics of the first electrode 10 or a change in the electrical characteristics of the first and second electrodes 10 and 20 to detect the particulate matter attracted by the first and second electrodes 10 and 20.
