PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for detecting an interfering multi-path condition. SOLUTION: A parameter is determined from a pulse of a correlation function derived from a received signal. The parameter is examined to determine if it is inconsistent with a non-interfering multi-path hypothesis. If so, an interfering multi-path condition is detected. In one example, a width test is used for detecting the interfering multi-path condition. By this test, the width of the pulse in energy offset selected from peak energy is determined. This pulse width is compared with the range of a possible width as the characteristic of non-interfering hypothesis.
