<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber covering material stripping-off load measuring instrument, and to provide a method of measurement therefor allowing a stripping-off load of a covering material for optical fiber to be measured with satisfactory accuracy, while allowing first and second drawing loads to be measured simultaneously, the first drawing load necessary to cut off the covering material in stripping off the covering material for the optical fiber and the second drawing load necessary for drawing in the course of the stripping-off from, immediately after the starting of the stripping-off. <P>SOLUTION: This optical fiber covering material stripping-off load measuring instrument includes: a stripping-off mechanism comprising a caulking member for impressing compressive stress on the covering material, by being pressed against the covering material for the optical fiber and a blade for making an incision in the covering material by the impressed compressive stress; and a stripping-off load measuring mechanism measuring the stripping-off load of the covering material, by gradually increasing the drawing loads from zero, when the blade is slid in the axial direction of the optical fiber. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
