PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a raw material for packed tea drinks, which can produce the packed tea drinks having such good rich flavors as those of high grade tea leaves. SOLUTION: The tea extract is obtained by processes including a process 1 for fractionating tea leaves by a steam distillation to obtain a distillate, and a process 2 for thermally treating the distillate of the process 1 at a temperature of ≤100°C.
