<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve sealability by reducing the surface roughness of a sliding surface of a seal ring manufactured by machining PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), and reducing a micro clearance between the seal ring and a shaft to suppress a clearance leakage. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The seal ring manufactured by machining PTFE includes the sliding surface coming in reciprocating close contact with the shaft with an interference. The sliding surface is coated with a separate coating layer made of PTFE thin to the extent of filling the surface roughness of the sliding surface to smooth the sliding surface. The surface roughness of the sliding surface before coated with the coating layer made of PTFE is more than 10 μm, and the surface roughness of the sliding surface after coated is 10 μm or less.
