<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the usability of the system by enabling prompt identification of the type of the ring binding bookbinding device to which the system outputs. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The bookbinding system has an MFP which forms image on the paper and the ring binding bookbinding device which is connected in the back of the MFP and performs ring binding book binding by attaching ring members as a binder to the ring holes made on the paper. A plurality of the ring binding bookbinding devices are connected, and when the ring members attached on the plurality of bookbinding devices are of the same kind, the connected bookbinding devices, the maximum number of pages of papers that can be bound which is detected by the ring member detection means, and the ring size which corresponds to the bookbinding devices are all displayed on the operation display section 3a. When a user selects the displayed bookbinding device by choosing from the selection buttons 3a-1, 2, 5, 6, the ring binding bookbinding is executed by the selected bookbinding device.
