<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for lapping which elongate the life of a lapping gear. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The lapping device 1 grinds a gear surface of a work gear 2 by rotating the work gear 2 and the lapping gear 3 meshed with the work gear 2 while meshing them together with a lapping agent containing abrasive grains interposed therebetween.
