PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a liquid crystal polyester fibers having abrasion resistance, free from fibril defect while keeping high strength, high elastic modulus and high heat-resistance, and having satisfiable weaving property and textile quality, especially a liquid crystal polyester monofilaments having small single fiber fineness. SOLUTION: Provided is a method for producing liquid crystal polyester fibers, wherein liquid crystal polyester fibers are formed into a package, the fibers are then subjected to solid-phase polymerization, and the solid-phase polymerized liquid crystal polyester fibers are unraveled from the package and directly heat treated without being taken up. The heat treatment temperature is a temperature that is at least 60°C greater than the endothermic peak temperature (Tm1) of the solid-phase polymerized liquid crystal polyester fibers, and the speed of the fibers before and after heat treatment is governed by first and second rollers.
