PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve the smooth usability of an image forming apparatus by a method wherein regarding each of replaceable components, a component is replaced at a time when it reaches a preset life limit or before the limit so that the occurrence of a trouble of the component is prevented in advance. SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus has a component operation counter 55 for measuring an accumulated number of times of using each of a plurality of replaceable components. The image forming apparatus includes a control unit 50 that performs a component replacement control process in which when a counter value reaches a second predetermined value larger than a first predetermined value, predetermined alarming is performed so as to make a correspondence replaceable component to be a replacement target and to make at that time another replaceable component to be a target for simultaneous replacement in the case that there is the other component of which the counter value reaches a first predetermined value. The image forming apparatus further includes a printing prohibition mode selection switch 45 for selecting in advance the "prohibiting" or "non-prohibiting" of a printing operation when the counter value reaches a second predetermined value regarding each of the replaceable components.
