<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a work lifting device capable of carrying a work without increasing weight, by easily and quickly adjusting a balance. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A support member 6 is connected to a clamp unit 7 so as to be slidingly movable in the lateral direction crossing with the vertical direction, and lifts the clamp unit 7 in response to the upward movement of a link part 11. A balance adjusting unit 8 is fixed to the clamp unit 7, and slidingly moves the clamp unit 7 to the support member 6. First and second load cells 3 and 4 respectively detect a load value applied to the clamp unit 7 from the work 23 by first and second clamp parts 20 and 21 separate in the lateral direction when the support member 6 lifts the clamp unit 7. A CPU 9 controls the balance adjusting unit 8 so as to move the first and second load cells 3 and 4 in the direction for reducing a difference between the load values of two places detected by the first and second load cells 3 and 4.
