<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traffic signal controller capable of appropriately easing traffic congestion when occurs, while suppressing the occurrence of traffic congestion by limiting the number of vehicles stopping at an intersection to wait for a traffic signal to change. <P>SOLUTION: The traffic signal controller 1a estimates the length of a queue of vehicles stopping to wait for a traffic signal to change in an inflow link of an intersection B. Then, the traffic signal controller 1a determines whether the estimated length of the queue of vehicles in the inflow link of the intersection B exceeds a predetermined threshold. When the estimated length of the queue of vehicles in the inflow link of the intersection B exceeds the predetermined threshold, the traffic signal controller 1a reduces an indication of split for straight-ahead vehicles flowing into the inflow link of the intersection B. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
