PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retrieval supporting apparatus capable of reducing the occurrence of a wandering problem. SOLUTION: The retrieval supporting apparatus includes: a reception part 111 for receiving the input of an input document and a cursor position; a structure analysis part 112 for analyzing a hierarchical structure between the passages of the input document; a first word importance degree calculation part 113 for calculating a first word importance degree which is the importance degree of words within a plurality of documents stored in a document storage part 140 for respective words included in passages of a higher order than the passage including the cursor position; a second word importance degree calculation part 114 for calculating a second word importance degree which is the importance degree of the work in the input document, to be a smaller value as the word is included in the higher-order passage for the respective words included in the high-order passage; and an output part 116 for outputting a retrieval condition including the first word importance degree and the second word importance degree.
