PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of detecting leakage of a refrigerant in a refrigerating device capable of securely monitoring leakage of the refrigerant all the time even in an open space such as an outdoor space. SOLUTION: In the method of detecting leakage of the refrigerant in the refrigerating device 10, outside air temperature (T0), cold water inlet temperature (T1) of an evaporator 40, cold water outlet temperature (T2) of the evaporator 40, evaporator pressure (P1) of the evaporator 40, cooling water inlet temperature (T3) of a condenser 30 and cooling water outlet temperature (T4) of the condenser 30 are detected. During operation, when a state where a temperature difference (ΔT1=T2-TR) between the cold water outlet temperature (T2) and evaporation temperature (TR) calculated from the evaporator pressure (P1) is larger than an operation predetermined value (A) is continued for a first predetermined time (Z1) or longer, leakage of the refrigerant is determined.
