<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an alarm which can be normally started when power is supplied. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The alarm is provided with: a battery 2; a fire detection circuit 7; a control circuit 1 for determining a state on the basis of a signal output from the fire detection circuit 7, and for outputting an alarm on the basis of the determination result; a transmission/reception circuit 5 to be controlled by the control circuit 1 for performing transmission/reception processing; a constant voltage circuit 23 connected to the battery 2 for supplying a predetermined voltage to the control circuit 1; a battery voltage detection circuit 4 for detecting a voltage to be supplied from the constant voltage circuit 23 to the control circuit 1; a constant voltage circuit 21 connected to the battery 2 for supplying a predetermined voltage to the transmission/reception circuit 5; and a discharge switch 31 connected in parallel with the transmission/reception circuit 5, and controlled to be turned on/off by the control circuit 1. When the voltage detected by the battery voltage detection circuit 4 is set to a predetermined value or less, the control circuit 1 discharges the transmission/reception circuit 5 by turning on the discharge switch 31.
