<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that an opening/closing lid of a washing machine body is subjected to an excessive load in the process of putting or taking the laundry in or out when the opening/closing lid is open and, consequently, the durability of hinge members and the opening/closing lid is degraded. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the drum type washing machine, a hinge unit 51 for opening and closing the opening/closing lid 5 includes: a bracket 51a which is attached to an annular part of a body panel 41; a bent part 51b1 which is rotatably connected with the bracket 51a and is bent toward the inside of the body panel 41; and a hinge arm 51b which is rotatably connected with the body panel 41. The bracket 51a is provided with: a fitting part 51a3 which is extended from a connecting part 51a1 and to which a shaft 51c as a rotary shaft of the hinge arm 51b is fitted; and a rib 51a4 which is closer to the opening than the fitting part 51a3, is protruded forward and is arranged so that it may be adjacent to a frame-like part of the body panel 41.
