<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus and an image display that accurately eliminate a pseudo contour caused by the missing of an image level even with respect to an image having been subjected to gradation correction processing. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus includes a gradation correction unit 3 which corrects gradations of input image data DI, and a gradation interpolation unit 4 which performs interpolation processing on the missing gradation of output image data DJ corrected by the gradation correction unit 3 wherein the gradation interpolation unit 4 includes an edge preservation type smoothing filter 42 which preserves and smoothes an edge of the output image data DJ, and a threshold determination unit 41 which determines a threshold TH used for the edge preservation type smoothing filter 42 in accordance with a gradation correction amount of the gradation correction unit 3. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
