<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bookbinding device for performing a series of processes from the supply of a gathering member part for constituting a booklet to the completion of a booklet form, which has function to detect a directive product found in each process with a detector capable of discriminating a defective product from the whole finished products to be conveyed, and to immediately discharge the finished product determined as the defective product from the process. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The bookbinding device includes a defect detecting means and a discharge mechanism arranged in each of the processes of member supply to the feeder part of the bookbinding device, member gathering, member folding, member saddle stitching, cover pasting and marginal blank cutting.
