PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide printing paper which has a low density, simultaneously has an easily turning-over property, when subjected to bookbinding, and flexibility for keeping an opened state, when the book is opened, and has a high surface strength. SOLUTION: The printing paper having a basis weight of 40-65 g/m<SP>2</SP>and a density of 0.20-0.40 g/cm<SP>3</SP>contains 60-100 wt.% of mechanical pulp, and contains an internal and/or external humectant to adjust the equilibrium moisture to 9.0-12% at a humidity of 50%RH at temperature of 23°C. In addition, it is preferable that the printing paper is spray-coated with a surface-treating agent containing a paper-strengthening agent. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
