PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a garbage treatment apparatus which has a system to put foreign matters mixed with garbage that has been incorporated into a crushing chamber in a foreign matter collection box installed at the side face of the crushing chamber and which smoothens the diving of foreign matter into the foreign matter collection box. SOLUTION: The garbage treatment apparatus is provided with the crushing chamber 12 to incorporate garbage together with water, a rotation blade plate 13 installed at the bottom part of the crushing chamber, an opening 14 at the sidewall of the crushing chamber, the foreign matter collection box 15 suitable for the outside of the opening, a blocking plate 16 to open and shut the opening and an operation handle 18 to open and shut the blocking plate 16. Further the apparatus is provided with a piece 19 of operation that moves together with the blocking plate 16 by the operation handle 18 and a limit switch 21 to operate by the piece 19 of operation. Then, the limit switch 21 is operated during the time when the opening 14 is opened by operating the blocking plate 16 and the amount of garbage flowing in the crushing chamber is reduced by limiting the volume of supply water with an adjustment valve 4 which supplies water to a sink.
